The MoT Files 2017: 10 worst MPVs for passing the first MoT
MPVs are often the vehicle that is called upon to get the whole family to the various crucial appointments that come with modern life. The last thing you need is for them to be prone to silly little niggles, or bigger faults, that scupper the chances of getting through their first MoT at three years old.
These are the biggest culprits when it comes to failing that important first MoT. All cars were tested in 2016 and were therefore registered in 2013.
Citroen C3 Picasso - 81.2% pass rate
The small C3 Picasso actually marginally outperforms the average for the Citroen range when it comes to the first MoT, but it still falls 24 per cent below average for all cars tested for the first time in 2016.
The reasons that 18.8 per cent of the 8589 Citroen C3 Picassos failed their first MoT in 2016 are varied, and largely not concerning – 8.0 per cent failed due to dodgy windscreen wipers for example. What is notable is a 1.5 per cent failure rate for the exhaust system – a rate that is eight times higher than average.
