The MoT Files 2017: 10 worst MPVs for passing the first MoT
MPVs are often the vehicle that is called upon to get the whole family to the various crucial appointments that come with modern life. The last thing you need is for them to be prone to silly little niggles, or bigger faults, that scupper the chances of getting through their first MoT at three years old.
These are the biggest culprits when it comes to failing that important first MoT. All cars were tested in 2016 and were therefore registered in 2013.
Chevrolet Orlando – 69.7% pass rate
The Orlando pointed to a bright future for Chevrolet when it was launched back in 2010, as the generously equipped seven seater did the basics well and offered a good value proposition. It was no looker, but then not many MPVs are.
The lights are the biggest reason for failure – twice as many Orlandos failed on that front than the average – but there were some other notable reasons, too. The Orlando was 150 per cent more likely to fail because of its brake hub components, and 75 times more likely to fail because of steering control
