Perhaps one reason is that bad examples of cars like the MGB and Jaguar XJ-S have been weeded out, leaving just the most solid and best-kept examples for buyer's to cherry pick. To qualify for our list, at least 1000 examples had to be tested for a model to make our list.

MGB 66.6% pass rate

With many of these cars being restored twice over by now, the MGB still soldiers on through the annual roadworthiness test. Still, it's not bad for a car designed in the 1960s. From next year, only the very last of the Bs will be due a test, following the Government's decision to exempt all pre-1977 vehicles from the MoT test. Let's just hope enthusiasts continue to keep them in fine fettle.
