You wouldn't have thought that the MoT test (and whether you pass or fail) would vary that much - but it does. In fact, every single one of the postcode areas in our top ten is in the South East. Ilford is a sort of halfway house between Essex and London, but car ownership habits are similar to those in the rest of London – cars tend to be newer and tend to have lower annual mileages than those in more rural areas, which helps explain a pass rate around 8% higher than the national average.
