One of the most surprising aspects to come out of The MoT Files is the amount of regional variations. You wouldn't have thought that the MoT test (and whether you pass or fail) would vary that much - but it does. In fact, every single one of the postcode areas in our top ten is in the South East. Romford has the highest pass rate in the whole country – 71% of all cars tested there pass their MoT. Romford, like all of the regions in this top ten, is in the South East. It’s also in the greater London area, where many cars tend to cover relatively few miles and where conditions year round are typically quite mild. Cars tend to be newer, too – older cars are less common than in the north and the Midlands.
