One of the most surprising aspects to come out of The MoT Files is the amount of regional variations. You wouldn't have thought that the MoT test (and whether you pass or fail) would vary that much - but it does. In fact, every single one of the postcode areas in our top ten is in the South East. Chelmsford (CM) – 67% pass rate
This Essex town is quite a long way from London, but the data reveals similar performance, with a higher than average MoT pass rate. There aren’t massive numbers of older, pre-2000 cars in Chelmsford, which helps explain the higher than average pass rate.
