Gotherington Cross Garage

Booked my car in as the central locking had broken, I said I didn't want to spend much just a diagnostics. The next day they ring me to tell me it's the bsi unit that would cost alot of money but that my bill was already £186 which was far more than I wanted to spend, as after the diagnostics they apparently took door panels etc off to investigate, costing me £105 in labour I didnt ask for. Plus there's no proof this was done as the car came back with the same issue. They should have rang me after the diagnostics test to ask me if I wanted further investigation done, at which point I would have said no. Plus after speaking to other garages, the initial diagnostics test would have picked up it was the bsi unit anyway!!! I paid in protest to get my car and after emailing the garage, Darren, who I'm assuming is the owner, is rude and just told me that's the cost, not understanding that I wasn't questioning the price list, I was questioning the work apparently done that I hadn't agreed to. Darren then ignored my emails. Clearly the sign of a guilty man. All I wanted refunded was everything except the diagnostics test cost. Untrustworthy and rude. DO NOT USE!!!! There are do many other garages in and around Cheltenham.

They serviced my van and quoted me £2k worth of advisories, even though they MOT'd it 3 months prior with no hint of an issue. They scared me into thinking that unless I got these "issues" fixed, I would only get £1.5k for my van, as I told them I'm planning to sell it (as opposed to £8k if I fixed it - I shouldn't have realised there and then that these numbers don't even add up?!) I got a 2nd opinion from another garage in Cheltenham, who physically showed me that it was all fabricated (i.e. COMPLETE LIES). "Brake calipers badly leaking" - they were bone dry. The list goes on. A blatant attempt at deceit and then no decency to come clean when confronted. Apparently I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with these guys, I'd recommend you stay away.

I became increasingly frustrated with the local main Landrover dealer. They operate a centralised booking service - the word service is used loosely here as they were unable to answer any of my relatively straight forward questions and referred me back to the dealership. After I had managed to speak to a person, I was told that I would get a call back - which I never did, e-mails were not responded to. Meanwhile I was getting numerous marketing e-mails and calls extolling the virtue of the main dealer's wonderful customer service! I looked for local Landrover specialists and found Gotherington Cross garage. From the first contact I was impressed by the depth of knowledge of the young lady on the service desk. She called me back within hours with the answers to my varied questions. I duly booked in my Defender for a full service. Everything went smoothly, I was amazed at how well the Defender drove after the service. I have used them again since and have been equally impressed.
