MoT Data for Bournemouth

With an MoT pass rate of 58 per cent, Bournemouth's overall performance is rather surprising. Postcode areas in the south do tend to have a higher pass rate rate than those in the north, but those towns that are on the coast aren't as good as those further inland.

The failure rates across all areas except brakes are below average, with brakes showing very slightly better than average performance.

Cars registered between 2004 and 2010 actually do pretty well in the MoT and all are above the national average. It's cars that were registered before this date that are the problem - all are below the average, with cars from the early 80s and early 90s doing particularly badly compared to the national average.

Porsche, Smart, Perodua, Chevrolet and Honda make up the top performing manufacturers, with Daewoo, Renault and Talbot at the bottom, althought the number of Talbots tested - or indeed on the road in general - is negligible.

In the national table, Bournemouth sits between Blackpool and Edinburgh, all on 58 per cent.
