Should my dealer change my oil and filter?
I have a 2011 Audi 1.4 TFSI which has covered 6000 miles. It was filled initially with Longlife oil (VW 50400). The dealer says it should not be changed for another year. Am I right to insist that oil and filter are changed and that Longlife be used again?
Yes you're right to insist. These engines have been suffering timing chain and piston ring failures, possibly because the oil was not changed frequently enough. Even high detergent ‘Longlife’ oil can carry contaminants that block vital oilways.
