Time to replace the DPF
I have Focus Estate 1.6tdi(110) which is due for its 6-year service and my local Ford dealer tells me the DPF is due for replacement at a cost of several hundred pounds.
The car has only done 55k and I wonder if it is really necessary? Can you advise - I note you have said that the whole job is probably beyond a local garage, which would be cheaper.
Ford seems to offer a service replacement DPF for £300, which is very reasonable. They get much more expensive if the Eolys additive system also needs replacing. This is the penalty of emissions legislation and why diesel owners have to budget for extra expense that reduces their fuel economy advantage.
