I used Wheelbase for 16 years servicing my wife's cherished VW Beetle. When I finally had to sell the car and needed to supply a full service record (which had been lost in a house move); Andy was able to supply by return post within 24 hours the full service hard copy record of each year of service. This material was supplied at no cost and enabled me to sell the car at maximum benefit as a full service history record car. This attention to customer care is truly impressive. Thank you Wheelbase.

I took the car as recommended by Skoda Owners' Forum as somewhere to trust. They were as hoped/expected. Took care over my car (which is a keeper) which meant going over-and-above the required work on a Haldex service by Skoda/VAG; namely removing the Haldex pump gauze and cleaning it of gunk. That and the rapport means I trust the place to look after my car as well as just do any necessary work.

Took the car in at 08.30 for a service, plus pollen, air filter and brake fluid change. In addition I had the gearbox oil and filter changed, plus the transfer box, haldex and differential oils replaced. Car was ready at 15.00. The cost was a little less than a main dealer but no comparison in the available dates, customer service which, as usual, was excellent and a free courtesy car. Thanks to Colin and the team once again.

Ignore date above - the date was September, 2015. My camper was in the 2nd time for gearbox repairs (they were unable to fix it the 1st time). Having chased them to find out if it was ready, they said almost and to make my way over. When I arrived it was just being finished and to be road tested. Colin the proprietor explained what they’d had to do and they took it out for the road test. I settled the bill, which was of the order of £1700.00 (the first bill had been over £700.00) and they then parked the van on their forecourt. The outside lighting was on as the daylight was fading. The gearbox was sorted but then Colin* dropped the bombshell which left me dumbfounded. I was only then told that whilst elevating the vehicle on their lift, the guy on the button had been distracted. Consequently the van had hit the garage roof breaking the van’s brand new elevating roof which had only been fitted some 3 weeks earlier. The van roof was subsequently found to be cracked right through, even to the extent that the steel van roof had deformed, but at the time he* said it was only the gel-coat that had gone. He offered to arrange for a repair, but since the roof was covered by a “product guarantee”, a repair wasn’t an option. That’s when it all went sour. In subsequent phone calls and having had to resort to letter writing, I was advised that I was being unreasonable and over the top. In the event, after having had to jump through hoops, the roof was replaced with a new one by the original installer and the van body repaired and painted. The bill was settled direct, although I took it upon myself to ensure, in advance, that the installer had been properly instructed in writing and not just verbally as it transpired he had been. I kept the van for a total of 4 years, with no further gearbox issues. My issue was, getting me to pay and only then being advised there was a problem together with all my running around and consternation getting it sorted. It took until the following January/February before it was finally fixed

Wiring loom problems were rectified - excellent service overall.

My partner's car needed a service and 2 new tyres. It also had a broken spring replaced. We are both very happy with the quality of work and the communication of the employees. We would not hesitate to recommend Wheelbase.

My Daughter purchased a car from here in July 2020, lovely car, good price. When she had an issue with the vehicle we took it to our local VW dealer who charged a £99 diagnostic fee and quoted £1900+ to do the work. When she contacted the Autoguard guarantee (which was provided by Wheelbase when she bought the car) to see if she could claim for the repair, they contacted Wheelbase, who phoned my daughter and arranged for the car to be repaired by them at no cost to herself and managed to refund the main dealer diagnostic fee. It was this great service that means I now drive 50 miles to get my car serviced and MOT'd. I completely trust Wheelbase to service my car and I know they will only recommend the things that require attention and not add on any unnecessaries. Great service.

Excellent service as usual!

I visited Wheelbase today after our Superb 280 developed a Christmas tree set of warning lights three weeks ago as we drove off a ferry. Skoda dealers absolutely useless; couldn’t even look at the car for three weeks or four if I wanted a chargeable courtesy car and had no interest in even attempting to help or care. I called Wheelbase on Saturday morning and they said they could take the car in on Tuesday with a free courtesy car and not to worry too much, as it was probably just a sensor that had failed. Took the car in at 08.30, was greeted by the owner Colin and again, he said it was probably just a sensor. I also asked Colin to correct the slightly off centre steering wheel. It turned out it was an ABS sensor which was great. Oh and the steering wheel is centred now too! I’ll be using Wheelbase for all our servicing and repairs.

An effective repair done promptly and at reasonable cost.

I have had my vehicle serviced here since I acquired it.The level of service given to both my vehicle and myself is second to none. I would highly recommend this garage.

Had an oil inspection service and brake fluid change done. Local dealer unable to free brake calliper bleed nipple and wanted £400 for new calliper and brake fluid service. Wheelbase had no such problem and did the brake fluid change for the standard, more reasonable price. I will use them again.

As a young woman, it's difficult to find a genuine, honest garage which isn't just out to make money - Wheelbase may just be the exception to this rule. I found a high-spec, low mileage car I liked being sold by Wheelbase via Autotrader in July 2020 and went to view it the next day, the staff were great, knew the entire history of the car (having sold it from brand new and carried out the FSH themselves) and didn't use any high-pressure sales tactics which made the whole process easier. I purchased the car which came with a complimentary Autoguard warranty. Unfortunately, through no fault of Wheelbase, there was a wear and tear issue with the car so I took it to my local main VW dealer (Wheelbase is just over an hour away from me) who quoted me £2,000 which I soon found out was exaggerating the issue more than it needed to be to get more money from me. I spoke to the warranty company to submit a claim and I then, shortly after, received a call from Wheelbase who, having been notified by Autoguard, offered to replace the part for me meaning it didn't cost me anything - they even covered a majority of the diagnosis fee I'd paid to the main dealer! They really have proved themselves to go above and beyond, and they are one of few garages I feel I could trust implicitly. As an approved VW Audi dealer they sell both brand new and used cars, and I have no doubt that when I come to upgrade my car they will be my first port of call. I cannot thank them enough for their honesty, friendliness and all-round fantastic service.

Have been going to Wheelbase for my annual service and MOT plus other repairs since I moved to Surrey 12 years ago. Always get an excellent service and as someone who knows very little about cars I feel I can trust them not to suggest unnecessary work. A courtesy car is always offered or a lift to the nearest train station. Always feels like nothing is too much trouble for this team.

Vehicle went in for annual service and MOT along with a faulty window. Every thing was completed during the time I was advised it would taken and to a very high standard. Cant fault the friendly customer service and would recommend the garage against a main dealer every time.

I had to replace the mechatronics unit on my polo and they replaced it within 3-4 days when I next needed my car.

Booked my VW CC in for annual service and MOT. Dropped my car into Wheelbase in the morning and was given a courtesy car for the day. All the work I had asked to be done was carried out efficiently by their excellent mechanics and when I collected the car later that day it drove like new. Would highly recommend.

Had an issue with the heater. I called up and booked in the car. The engineers were super friendly and helpful. Need more garages like this. Will use them for all services and MOTs in future.

When Walton Audi were not prepared to fit my new car with winter wheels and tyres, Wheelbase stepped in and, after a couple of quite tricky iterations, sent me on my way perfectly equipped.

I have been using Wheelbase for about 30 years and have total confidence in the garage and its workforce. As a family we have bought 6 second VW hand cars from them over the years and all of them have been superb. If you have a possible problem and discuss it with Colin and his team , they know the whole range so well that they have usually identified what is needed before even seeing the car ! As a small garage they can give a very personal customer service somewhat lacking in larger concerns. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The team are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and whenever I have ever needed one of my vehicles repaired urgently they have always found a way to get me back on the road quickly

I wanted to have a digital speed readout displayed on my Tiguan's MFD. The guys at Wheelbase knew what I was after and were able to figure out which option on the VW system needed to be activated in order for this to work.

I have my car serviced etc. at Wheelbase and will only use this garage. I find them extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. Their customer service and technical service is excellent.

Wheelbase have minimal overheads so their rates are low. They specialise in VW and AUDI vehicles. Colin Marshall, who owns the garage, trained with Colbourne in Guildford and set up with a colleague a good few years ago. Diana, who keeps them in order, passes our door so collects our cars and delivers them back at the end of the day. I've recommended various friends to them and they've sold and serviced a few cars as a result. You'll go a long way to find a better garage.

I had taken the vehicle to a main dealer who basically gave me one option only and that was to change the DSG gearbox at vast expense. Colin was able to come up with a solution that was a fraction of the cost and also suggested that we changed the clutches at the same time as it would cheaper now than having to replace them in the future. I was kept informed and the car was valeted and now runs like new.

My car has just had its annual visit to Wheelbase, and the level of service remains as impressive as ever.

My car went in for a service and there were a few extra jobs that needed attention. These were done with efficiency. Nothing is too much trouble. I’m thrilled with the work that was done.

Since becoming a Wheelbase customer I wouldn't consider using another garage and recommend them to my family and friends for their excellent customer service.

We have had our cars serviced at Wheelbase for over 20 years and cannot fault them on their worksmanship and customer service skills. They are always prepared to go the extra mile (excuse the pun) and nothing is too much trouble for them, whether it is rescuing me when my car has broken down, offering advice when looking for a new car and generally being available for whatever emergency befalls me, usually without any charge. A more welcoming garage you will be hard pressed to find!

Whether it is the usual service or something more detailed, there is always a smiling, well informed welcome. The prices are competitive and usually below expectation. There is nothing too much for the well informed workforce and there is a genuine love of cars and everything associated. Both my brother and I use the services offered and they never stint on the ability to surprise with advice or impartial counsel. It is also possible to spend time in exchanging political views or more likely the excitement of motor racing or developments in the 'petrolhead' world. VW Audi gem in a faceless morass of main dealers, were I not locked into a service plan with my wife's new Polo I would have it serviced here.The final gem in the crown is that the phone and the reception is always with real people and not mechanical voices and endless elevator music. Nor is the appointment system depersonalised through a central call centre.

My last car was and my current car is serviced by Wheelbase and I have never had cause to doubt the work done nor the charges made. on this occasion I took my car (Audi Q5) in with a broken wing mirror with the expectation of booking a slot for fitting a new mirror at some cost. They managed to put the mirror back together - on the spot and at no charge - which I thought was excellent service and highly commendable.

28 years ago, I bought a 1 year old VW Golf, had it serviced each year at Wheelbase. When it died, 5 uears ago, I bought a 5 year old VW Golf, which I was pleased to see had been serviced at Wheelbase each year since new. I have always had the loan of a courtesy car while servicing has been carried out . I have had excellent service, am completely happy with advice I have received over the years. I feel Colin and Andy are friends now. I would not think of going anywhere else about my car.

Another good experience with this garage when my aged A4 developed three problems almost simultaneously. Arriving unannouced late one afternoon, help was provided to diagnose the most significant problem (a seized alternator pulley) and the part ordered and fitted the following day. Investigation also showed some rear link arms needed replacing, which were done in the same visit. A less pressing problem will wait until I can spare the car on another day. I can always gripe at labour costs and the complexity of (relatively) modern cars but this garage provides all I could hope for in terms of helpfulness, friendliness, explanations and above all - just about everyone ther gives you confidence they know their job.

I bought my little UP about 3 weeks ago. I developed a problem , with , as it turns out the clutch, I phoned Thursday morning to tell them about this problem, they collected my car the same day, then kept it over night. The following day it was confirmed I needed a new clutch and it was done, no quibbles no problems and all under the warranty. This is a dealership/garage you can trust and rely on completely . I honestly can’t praise them highly enough

My Audi A4 needed a new clutch pack, it had been a problem manifesting itself over a few months. The team diagnosed the symptoms spot on, fitted a new clutch pack and communicated with me brilliantly. VW/ Audi after sales service through the main dealers is horrendous, the team at Wheelbase transform the pain of main dealer experience into trouble free ownership. For everything from major service to renewing the ac condenser, and they have always been punctual and contacted me if there are any added jobs required to confirm them before they carry them out. The problem I had with my car is a common Audi fault which has been reported on the A7 forum to be misdiagnosed by many Audi dealers. Wheelbase was recommended to me by a friend. They located the fault, called me and explained everything including the cost. I found Wheelbase to be very professional in the way they kept me informed of the progress of the the repair. I would highly recommend them to other Audi owners.

I have used this garage for years and have never been disappointed. When my husband was working away a lot if I had any problems with the car they'd say 'bring it down immediately', more often than not it was something silly like the oil needed topping up but they never made me feel stupid and that I was wasting their time. I would highly recommend this garage for their efficiency, pricing and just general care of their customers and of course their workmanship.

I have been using Wheelbase on and off for several years. The service is always fuss free and super helpful and I have every confidence in their servicing and repair work. It's great to be automatically provided with a replacement vehicle whilst they are working on yours. Other VW service centres charge for the insurance on this and run checks on driving licence endorsements but Wheelbase are far more trusting and it makes the whole process super slick. All round great experience.

Wheelbase specialise in Audi's VWs etc so they know the cars inside out therefore I chose them to undertake my scheduled Oil change. The customer service I received from Andy from Check-in to Check-out was efficient and effortless and I would definitely use and recommend their services again in the future.

I have now used Wheelbase for all servicing and repairs on my cars for around 15 years. Colin, Andy and the rest of the crew really have an extensive knowledge of VW Group cars and always go the extra mile to ensure that you are well looked after. I have dealt with a number of garages over a period of almost 50 years and in my view Wheelbase stands out from the crowd as being right at the top for reliability, friendliness and customer care. I have no hesitation in recommending them and indeed on one occasion they were able to accommodate a friend of mine by repairing his car without delay whereas his main dealer from whom he had purchased the vehicle could not assist him for about 10 days. Big is not always beautiful. In this case small is great !

My VW Golf broke down and was towed to another garage, however, on recommendation I had it collected by Wheelbase for the repair. They were helpful and efficient and even lent me a lovely little VW Up while my car was off the road. They kept me updated with details and cost at all times. So lovely in this age of large corporate companies to be able to get personal service from knowledgable and friendly people. I just wish we had found them before.
