Is the clicking noise when I turn my key indicative of a broken starter motor?

When I turn the ignition key, the lights come on the dashboard but there's just a clicking noise and the engine doesn't turn. I've charged the battery using a battery starter as it hadn't been driven in about a month, but this made no difference. Could this be the starter motor and, if so, would I be able to replace it myself?
Yes. Starter motor Bendix probably jammed in the flywheel. The clicking is the relay opening. How much work is required depends on how much damage is done. Obviously if the flywheel starter ring is damaged then the car needs a new flywheel which means separating engine and transmission. Not a DIY job I would take on.
