Why does my Volkswagen Golf lose power when picking up from lower revs?
I have a 2016 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 Bluemotion with the 7 speed DSG gearbox. It suffers from loss of power when picking up from lower revs, such as entering/leaving roundabouts. The car almost dies and the revs drop right away and then it picks up. This can be quite alarming as of course the can slows when other drivers expect it to pick up. The car has been into the supplying dealer on a half dozen occasions but they are unable to trace/find a fault. Any ideas?
Standard problem with all VAG cars, most noticeable with DSGs. The brake pedal switch is sticking and sending a message to the ECU to cut power because the brakes are on. It's possible that replacing the brake pedal switch will fix it, though in my experience all VAG cars can suffer from this problem at any time, particularly when you least expect it and need to pick up speed quickly because a loaded cement truck is bearing down on you.
