What problems should I be aware of with a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle 1.9 TDI?
I am thinking about buying a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle for my wife, personally don't think its practical. I am looking at a 1.9 TDI, 105,000 miles. When is the cam belt due on these and roughly when does the clutch need replacing? Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Needs a timing belt, tensioner, waterpump and fresh aux belt at least every 60,000 miles. Clutch and DPF life is unpredictable. Between 40,000 miles and 140,000 miles depending on how it's been driven. Car by car problem areas here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/beetle-19.../
The main problem with these is parking them because the driver can't see the corners.
