What things should I look out for when buying a 2008 Ford S-Max?
I'm looking at buying a 2008 Ford S-Max 2.0 TDCi, 133,000 miles on the clock. It's priced at £2650 and I'm looking at it this week. What things should I be looking for which should have been changed already and, more importantly, how many miles are these good for as this will be the family's only car.
That's taking a chance. You need to know when the timing belt, tensioner, waterpump and aux belt were last replaced. Probably best to replace them all immediately at £500 - £600. The DMF could be on the way out. So could the DPF (which might have been illegally disconnected). You cannot expect reliability.
