Why does my Mazda 6 need an oil change after 7000 miles?
The oil change service indicator on my Mazda 6 2.2 diesel has come on. The car is just under seven months old and has 6300 miles on the clock. Would you expect the oil change service interval to appear after such a short period of time? I was expecting to have to change the oil every year/10,000 miles.
The oil has become contaminated from the way you have been driving the car: probably switching the engine off before an active regeneration of the DPF has completed. This will have dumped diesel fuel into the oil, raising its level. If you don't get it attended to the engine could start to run uncontrollably on its sump oil.
