Does my Ford Focus TDCi need a new timing belt at 61,000 miles?

I have noticed on your forums that the recomended mileage for changing the timing belt on a Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI is 100,000 miles. I have a Spanish Focus that is on approx 100,000km (61,000 miles) and my dealer has told me the timing belt needs to be changed soon. As I think that all Focus cars are built in Germany, why should there be such a difference in these figures?
Take the Spanish dealer's advice.
