Does my BMW 118 diesel have a timing chain?
I have bought a 2008 BMW 118 diesel. Can you tell me if it has a timing chain and if so when would be a good time to change it?
Has a timing chain, not a belt. Absolutely essential to have the oil and filter changed at least every year or every 120,000 miles whichever comes first, or the chain can give trouble. More in the entry in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar
