Should my Volkswagen Golf 1.9 DSG have annual services, or more often?

We have a Golf 1.9 DSG SE on an '05 plate, it has just done 82,000 miles. We do approx 15-18,000 miles a year, the car is serviced every year and has just had an oil change, plus new rear discs and pads. Touch wood, all is well at the moment. My question is should it just have a full service every year, or is more needed? How long should the engine last if it is looked after? I would prefer to keep it till it falls apart, but would change it if it starts costing serious money.
It needs an oil service at least every six months at this sort of mileage. It should have been getting one all its life, but now it's getting old it needs frequent oil and filter changes even more.
