Which luxury car to replace our Volvo V70?
At some point I plan to replace our trusty and excellent 2003 Volvo V70 2.4 petrol auto. I was thinking about a 2008 or 2009 E-Class estate or the new V70. Is the Mercedes-Benz worth the extra money? Will servicing costs be much more for the Mercedes? I also have heard that Mercedes-Benz cars are not built like they used to be. Either way, it is the size and comfort and extra seats that seem to sway the E-Class in my favour. Your views would be much appreciated.
No, Mercedes aren't built like they used to be and haven't been since around 1986. But, rather than a 2009 W212, I think you'll do better in a 2007-2008 facelift model W211. It was hugely improved in summer 2006 and came in the top 10 in the latest Warranty Direct Reliability assessment based on warranty claims.
