I advise using the best petrol, which is Shell V-Power, and the best diesel, which is BP Ultimate, because after 12 years of Optimax and then V-Power petrol, and about five years of BP Ultimate diesel, I have proved that they not only give better economy but that they keep the fuel systems of my cars clean and I never suffer from the sort of expensive problems complained of by readers who run their cars on supermarket petrol.
