Why is my 2009 Audi A4 using so much oil?
My 2009 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI petrol has used a prodigious amount of engine oil - perhaps a litre every 10 days at 25,000 miles per annum - since purchase. It has now done 41,000 miles. In the past, I have raised this with Addison Audi in Newcastle but they just shrug and say it is the design. This is my sixth Audi and might be the last. Any intel on this?
It can happen with VAG and BMW engines filled with synthetic oil on the production line and driven comparatively gently. The oil rings never bed in properly. It makes extended oil service intervals possible because by the time the engine has done 20,000 miles it can have needed the equivalent of three or four oil changes in (very expensive) fresh oil.
