Why does my car stick at high revs on start up?
I have a Fiat 500, owned new from 2011 with 19,000 miles on the clock. A few times on startup, when not used for a few days, the engines revs up to 4/5000rpm before setttling down to normal warm up tickover. Do you know what could be causing this?
Our first check would be to see if you have a vacuum/air leak somewhere. If not that then we would suspect the IAC (idle air control valve) could be sticking or dirty. Or alternatively it could be a dirty or sticking throttle plate.
