What oil does my Porsche Boxster need?
I have an 2008 2.7 Boxster which is now at 135k miles and I was wondering what is the best oil type for the age/miles of the car ? I’m also going to change the gearbox oil (manual), as the gear change feels quite stiff until warmed up. Or do you think this may be the cables?
We would suggest that you use 0W-40 or 5W -40 fully synthetic and Mobil 1. As for the gearbox we would suggest Mobil Gear 300 75W-90. Without inspection we cannot say if the gear change problem is the cables but given the mileage it may be worn or stiff cables and or the oil. We would inspect the cables first and if serviceable then change the oil.
