TMC Garage, Throckley

I had some work carried out on my car, when I went to collect it, I saw the mechanic put the front wheels back on the car using a pneumatic wheel brace. Everything was fine until I was driving the car and had a puncture, I could not get the wheel off the car, the wheel nuts had been over-tightened I stood on top of the wheel brace, my 146 pounds would not budge it. A passing motorist stopped to help his 14+ stone could not free it up either. Fortunately, a man who lived in the only house in the vicinity, came over to see why I had been stranded there with my dog, for 2+ hours! He had a wheel brace with a much longer handle and between us we managed to get the wheel off. I fitted the space-saver wheel and managed to get home. The mechanic saved himself a few seconds, that cost me 2+ hours standing at the side of a mostly deserted road in the dark and cold!

TMC is not my local garage but I used them for a number of years now. I want a garage where they will identify only the work that needs doing to the car, explain in easy to understand terms what is required, fix it promptly and charge a reasonable price. I trust them to find faults and point them out to me, ensuring my car is safe but also not to recommend any work that is unnecessary. Highly recommended. Today was an MOT test, car was in for just over 2 hours, staff were very pleasant and it only cost £30.
