Southern Co, Eastbourne

i took my car for an mot , on a recommendation from a friend , to southern co eastbourne , the total bill for work was £1396 , recently i went down a pot hole and had to have a rear suspension replaced , while in the garage i was questioned reguarding my MOT , i said it has just been done by above company , and was told in no uncertain terms the car should have never passed its mot in a million years , this is very disappointing and absolutley bloody awful , legal proceedings pending !!!!!!!!

I have used Southern Co for a number of years now for trade MOT’s and servicing of trade sale vehicles. The owners and the staff are always willing to help and assist, always manage to fit me in sometimes at short notice for MOT’s and servicing. I phoned this garage by accident thinking they were Visick Cars, which is a much better garage. I did a google search for Visick Cars and sadly clicked on the top result, but this was an AD - I missed that. I asked for a quote for replacement springs, shocks and wheel alignment as this is what a mechanic friend told me I should get, as the shocks were dead and the springs should be replaced at the same time. The quote was £456.58. I agreed verbally over the phone. When I went to the garage, I verbally confirmed with the woman at the reception: Springs, Shocks and Alignment. So this is twice I have told her what work was agreed. When I came to collect the car, the springs had not been replaced and I was charged £467.88 - £11.58 overcharge. So not only did they not complete the work requested, but I was additionally overcharged. Visick cars, the REPUTABLE garage returned a quote of £430 for the same work (minus the springs to make the quote comparable). The lady at reception tried to gaslight me saying that I didn't say springs as well. I said that I did, twice, and the reason for changing the springs at the same time, which is common sense: it takes no labour to replace the springs when you already have the suspension open. She thought about the lying and gaslighting and offered to change the springs without labour, but by this time I know the garage is scammy and I'm not going to trust them at all.

Absolutely disgusted with this company! Bought a car from a third party in which they got them to do cambelt and water pump and put a cat on vehicle to get through mot. Not new cat at all, since had to be changed and within 15months new cambelt and water pump, as well as crank shaft pulley. They've tightened the cambelt tensioner up by hand and too tight, a big no no! 3 separate garages I've seen have said the same...only warranty their parts and work for a year ?????? now almost a grand down in just over a year. Absolute joke would NEVER use this company. Beware!

An absolutely shocking garage in my opinion I will definitely not be going back there again! My car was booked in for an MOT today and it failed which I understand but the garage I then took it to said no problems at all and passed it first time it cost me £135 which I did not authorise for them to take everything off the car and I didn’t even get my MOT! I would strongly advise people not to go there! And the blonde on reception is extremely rude/arrogant/miserable. 0/10

What a great garage! Professional, highly qualified and knowledgeable mechanics, the boss is an absolute delight- so friendly and understanding and very hands on. Great diagnosis- super speedy and very reasonably priced. Great garage- such individualised and personal service. Absolute delight- the boss is great- get your car done here just so you can meet him!!!!

Helped me out with an emergency repair when no other garage in the area made an allowance for the fact I was visiting the area and needed the car back ASAP. Well done to the RAC for recommending this garage.

Car needed a mot and I wanted them to take a look at my wheel alignment as car was pulling to the left. Mot and alignment completed quickly and car no longer pulling to the left. Quick, friendly and professional 5 stars

Fantastic service! Had to find a new garage as my previous one in cowbeech stoped doing motor home mots and servicing. Was recommended to southern co by a fellow motor home fanatic.. I’ve had a few niggling problems with my motor home for a few years now that previous garage couldn’t quite put their finger on. Mentioned it to the guys here when booking in and they diagnosed and fixed immediately. Well recommended by me!

This is to the lovely manager. Thank you Dean. I visited you Friday (the elderly lady very flustered) I had smoke coming from my engine. Thank you for making me a cup of tea and calming me down, thank you for taking me home and opening the car door for me and thank you for fixing my car and delivering it back to me so quickly. You were so polite and explained it all so well even to a non mechanic like me! I haven’t had anyone open a car door since my late husband passed. I will certainly bring my little car back to you in the future and will be recommending you to my friends. See you soon

This is by far the best place to take your car for any type of services they offer, the staff are absolutely brilliant, so helpful, and are so kind and welcoming, they inform you of all details and take you through all steps of any services, they offer a great waiting area and a warm drink, they were all brilliant with my baby who I had with me and very patient and friendly. The mechanics are very thorough, their prices are great too, couldn’t recommend this company enough, thank you for all your help, I haven’t seen see a company this amazing before.

A local garage had quoted my father for expensive works needed. Took the vehicle to Southern co who confirmed and diagnosed the problem saving us over £600. They were absolutely fantastic in clearly explaining everything so well to my elderly father. The owner was so friendly and polite and really went out of his way.

Worst garage in england, took 4 days longer than it was supposed to take, cost me more money than it should’ve, didn’t even fix the problem, and broke another part on the van and refused to fix it!

This garage is worse than useless, the job took far to long and my vehicle has more problems since being in there than before. They put the wrong grade oil in it, for one thing, which I have had changed. And they are expensive. if i could give no stars i would .Dreadful customer service.

I was really pleased with the service southern co gave me, they went the extra mile to fit me in when my car broke down and also provided me with a courtesy car. And even took the time to show me how to check my oil! Thank you

Have been using this garage for years and have always had excellent service. They won’t do work they don’t need to and have often suggested a simple fix rather than taking my car in.

I'm heading back to Southern Co for the third time on Monday to have the same solved issue debt with. It seems I have acquired more problems with the vehicle since leaving it with them aswell. I guess I'm going to have to learn about engine diagnostics and repair. I know the automotive industry is backwards but these chimps take it to whole new level. Avoid this garage like the plaig.
