"Exceptional service and help from Tony, Mandy and the team who prioritised our alternator replacement so we could continue our holiday in Cornwall."

Travelling from Perranporth to Portreath through Cornish back roads our campervan ground to a halt at a seemingly remote crossroads. We were amazed to find Sevenmilestone Garage around the corner. On hearing our predicament the owner came immediately, fetched a tow truck and took us to a safe place on his land. The alternator had packed up. Being a 1996 vehicle, it needed a particular replacement. That was ordered immediately but needed to come down overnight from Sheffield. We were invited to stay on the garage premises in our van overnight. The part was fitted as soon as it arrived and we were able to continue our holiday at lunchtime. We feel very grateful that we broke down and received such care and expertise from Tony, Mandy and their team.

"AVOID - They make work and inflate costs of parts and labour"

My car failed it's MOT with them and the quote to repair the car was unacceptable. My main issues are: - I was told that the tyre was dangerous with cords showing and shouldn't be driven unless you fitted a new tyre at a cost of circa £70. I drove the car to another garage and was told that it should have been an advisory if that. They laughed and said "where did you take it, Sevenmilestone?" And advised me to contact DVSA. - You said that my suspension arm needed replacing. You quoted me £51.73 for the single part alone and an hour and half of labour. I had the work done by a local mechanic and I supplied the exact part from the same manufacturer (NAPA) for £19! Check on partsinmotion.co.uk At that cost I had both sides done and was only charged an hour and half labour to do both sides! - It also failed on "structural" rust. The 50p size patch at the rear of the sill on both sides wasn't structural but you quoted me over 2 hours labour to repair this. Again a local mechanic repaired both sides within 40 minutes which included removing just 4 small bolts to access the area. The mechanic chuckled when I showed him the list and I said where I had the MOT carried out. He asked if it was a woman with dark hair and then informed me that she had a reputation for creating work. The receptionist was rude. Terrible service all round!

Broke down on the way to Cornwall Fri.with an engine overheat message and was towed here after being recommended as being close to where we were staying. Dropped keys off Mon.a.m.and explained the fault. Car repaired Tues p.m.picked up We’d a.m and was charged £120 for 2hrs labour. Was told the coolant temp. sensor wire was very tight! and had been adjusted. However when we returned home to Manchester on Sat,we broke down again with the same fault approx 20 miles from home. We managed to get a friend to tow us to a garage who said straight away it will be the coolant temp sensor. This he changed costing £62.75. The car has since ran perfect and we have just driven to Bournemouth and back without problem. The question is why wasn’t this changed in the first place. Even the recovery said it’ll be you sensor. I feel we have been charged £120 for nothing here.

Auxiliary belt on Volvo V70 failed which killed the power steering and the aircon, so recovery truck took it here. Despite being very busy they were very keen to get us back on the road. Despite us turning up at 3pm they were able to source a new belt to fix same day. Whilst there they spotted that both nearside tyres had bulges in the wall (pothole/ kerb damage probably). Managed to source new tyres first thing next morning and happy to drive repaired car back 3 miles to where we were staying. All done without fuss for 250 quid - a bargain!
