Phipps Autos

Took my car to another local garage for repair who then took it to phipps for the mot. They failed it on items that passed the following day in another garage.They just had my money because according to the gov uk mot website my car had not undergone an mot on that day at all. The only mot shown on that website for my car was the test i had done the following day in a different town when it passed.

We took our car there for an MOT (because it was really close to home) and told them we know the brakes needed replacing and please fix anything else that needed fixing. More than £1000 and 2 days later we got the car back. This is a 2007 registration and it cost a £1000 but we thought it comes with the territory having such an old car and it was in need of a good once over! Well the car made the most terrible noise so we took the car back and told them there is a knocking noise of the front RIGHT wheel. They replaced the ball bearings on the front LEFT wheel and told us it was a referral noise (Yes, indeed!!!!) and that they noise would stop. This was another £200. It didn't! So we went to SAC in Guildford and they told us that the front right ball bearings also needed replacement and that the front right wheel was only attached to the car with one screw. That's what was making the knocking noise. The wheel was literally rattling against the shaft. They also told us that the brake covers that are essential for keeping your brakes clean and dry, and that was removed by Phipps because they we so rusted (and we were told wasn't essential), are indeed essential especially drive in rain and mud. Another £1000 in repairs to fix that chaos Phipps caused on our car later, we feel everyone should know how scary the work is at this garage. Drive to Guildford or anywhere else but do not go here!!!
