"STRESSFUL to deal with. Broken promises. Charge for work not completed."

Took a whole month to do two half hour jobs and charged £210 for additional work not completed . Dropped off on Thursday by RAC as broken down for work to commence Monday. They kept booking in other jobs ahead of ours and didn’t even lift the bonnet for TWO FULL WEEKS. I was told they had a ‘Motorhome man’ who can sort most things at time of booking. He was in fact a contractor from elsewhere who billed for work he didn’t want to undertake without even starting it. At the time of booking Chevron wanted to know all about the maximum payout my warranty company would pay. With hindsight this was probably to max-out a claim. The whole experience took a WHOLE MONTH TO COMPLETE TWO 30 MINUTE JOBS with an overall bill of well over £600. As my van was not running they took full advantage of me knowing I couldn’t take it elsewhere. They effectively had me over a barrel and fully exploited the situation. When I realised nothing had been done after the first week I felt I needed to start checking up on their progress . This was an entirely STRESSFUL experience as I felt I had to balance gently pushing them along with the job whilst trying not to annoy them so they would keep on working. I have since learnt a of a number of number other people who have had similar experiences. My advice would be GIVE CHEVRON A WIDE BERTH AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!!

"Excellent service at reasonable cost, by competent and approachable people."

I have had my Citroen Xsara Picasso serviced by James Nicklin for the past five years. He is a Citroen-trained motor mechanic, so knows his way around their cars and does not cut corners. My car recently failed to start, so I appealed to him for assistance. He came the next day as promised, with a colleague, in case of a tow being necessary. Diagnosing a failed starter motor, my car was taken away for repair and returned three hours later. The labour charge charge was modest, compared to Main Dealer rates, and the service excellent.
