The revs in my Nissan Qashqai increase when I ease off the accelerator - what's the problem?

I own a Nissan Qashqai 1.9 petrol automatic. When I accelerate up to a certain speed and then ease off the accelerator, the revs increase considerably, although the speed remains constant. When I then depress the accelerator in order to maintain my speed the rev counter returns to normal. The Nissan main dealer from whom I purchased the car, replaced the gearbox (under warranty) with a new one. However, within just a few days of the car being returned to me (after three months in the garage) the fault recurred. The car is now back in the garage. What do you think the problem could be?
The automatic transmission is a CVT with a reputation for failure. But in your case it seems that either the engine software or the transmission software is at fault.
