Should I replace my 2010 diesel Skoda Octavia Estate?
My first diesel Skoda Octavia Estate managed 200,000 miles until I replaced it with a 6 month old model in 2010 With 100,000 miles on the clock. Should I be looking to replace my current diesel or do I keep it until major bills tells me it's time to go? The car is regularly serviced and had the timing belt replaced at 70,000 miles.
Assuming diesel, your current Octavia will have an EA189 1.6 TDI or 2.0 TDI and both are subject to the NOx emissions recall that might mess them up. The EA189 1.6 TDI is not a good engine and most need a replacement EGR almost immediately after the NOx fix. So if you can avoid all that by swapping for a current generation Octavia estate, which is a much more solid car, go for that.
