Is the cam belt change on our 2012 Ford S-Max necessary?

We have a 2012 Ford S-Max 2.0 CDi Powershift with 45,000 miles on the clock. In last week's CAR section you suggested that the cam belt and associated parts should be replaced after 4 years. This has us worried because we plan to drive out to Italy later in the year. Is this work absolutely essential?
Yes. Change timing belt, tensioner, waterpump and aux belt. The Powershift transmission is also due for a fluid and filter change.
