Why is my Hyundai i20 mpg so much lower than expected?
My 2012 Hyundai i20 1.2, 41,000 miles on the clock is quoted an average of 57.6 mpg. Your website suggests that the real average mpg for this make and model is 46.9 mpg, but I’m averaging only 39 mpg! Is there anything you might be aware of or can suggest I trywhich might improve the poor fuel economy?
Might be binding rear brakes. Hyundai i20s had a lot of trouble with this. How well does the car freewheel down a slight incline? Something else to try is Shell V-Power Nitro Plus. With a small engine, the extra torque at low revs can make a big difference, allowing earlier upchanges. My experience of the original i20 here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/hyundai/hyundai-i2.../
