Why is my car slow when starting from cold?
My Mercedes-Benz ML270 CDI (2004) is a bit sluggish when starting up from cold in the morning - it's only just started happening. I have to press harder on the accelerator to get the car going which is really strange. The car perks up after a while and drives superbly for an 11 year old car.
Might be the temperature causing your diesel fuel to partially emulsify until it gets warmed up by the heat of the engine. Might be that your glowplugs are on the way out. If there's a lot of smoke then will be because one or more of your glowplugs are failing.
