Audi A6 Avant maintenance advice
I have just placed on order for a new Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TDI Ultra SE, S-tronic. I chose the SE for the comfort it provides, and the 2.0-litre engine for the economy. As I intend to keep the car for quite a while, beyond the three years of the PCP deal and of the warranty period, what are the things that you would recommend in order to ensure a trouble-free long-term ownership?
It will need a timing belt, tensioner and waterpump after 3 years and 60k miles. I would change the oil and filter every 10k miles, which means every 6 months. Do not purchase a 'service contract'. They only provide the minimum and are bad value. An extended warranty won't cover DMF and clutch. Yes, worth having the paint treated. Autoglym guarantees its treatment. But don't pay the dealer for this because what you usually get is £100 worth of treatment for £400 and the salesman keeps the other £300 as commission.
