Should I buy an ex-rental car?
I am considering buying a 2015 Skoda Octavia Estate 1.6 diesel. The vehicle has 13,000 miles on the clock and is an ex-rental. It will need an oil replacement immediately taking into consideration it was a hire car and the mileage. Although I feel it should already have been serviced as its around a year old.
I'm concerned that it was a hire car, personally I treat hire cars like gold as I don't want to have to pay for damages...not sure others do the same though. Is this a good buy?
Shouldn't be any worries about it having been a hire car because for the reasons you state, they don't tend to get abused these days. 13k miles isn't excessively outside the 10k miles I recommend and VAG Longlife servicing might even say it isn't due yet.
I would insist on an oil and filter change using the correct oil and correct filter before I bought the car, or get a quote from a Skoda dealer and subtract it from the price you pay the selling dealer.
