Why is my 2002 Vauxhall Vectra squealing when I start the engine?
I have a 2002 Vauxhall Vectra C, 2.2DTi with 111,000 miles on the clock. When I start the car there is a squealing noise, which rises and falls with the revs for the first 10 to 15 seconds of running, then stops. It sounds like the fan belt on past motors, but I don't want to guess on this one. Can you tell me what belts/chains/tensioners I should look into getting changed please? I've owned it since 80,000 miles but I have no proof anything has been changed prior to that except a stamped service book. Also, any idea what I should be paying for getting them done?
It's probably the alternator.
