How to read fault codes on a Volvo?

I need a diagnostic scanner to read/erase fault codes on my Volvo V50. I have seen some scanners that list most Volvo models but not the V50. Can you help?

There are many scanners on the marketand it depends on how much one wants to spend -and also if it is just for your personal use. The one that would appear popular with Volvo owners is the PPC scanner.
