Is the BMW F10 a sensible car for a daily commute?
I currently run a 2010 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 diesel. I would like something a bigger and more refined for a daily round trip commute of 45 miles. I am a fan of the F10 BMW 5 series 520d. Especially its frugal nature and auto transmission.
I understand that there may be a update 5 series in 2016/17 so do you think i should wait for any end of line offers promotions? What should I expect in regards to higher running costs?
BMW F10 5 Series are already being substantially reduced due to the imminence of the new model. Expect at least £5000 off, maybe as much as £7500. Runflat tyres save your life if you ever suffer a puncture on a motorway because you don't have to stop on the hard shoulder where most motorway deaths occur.
Yes, servicing will cost a bit more. RWD problems overcome by fitting cold weather tyres or all weather tyres, some of which will be available as runflats (Nokian Weatherproof). Yes, the bigger car with autobox will use more fuel. Real mpg 45.7.
