How do I recommission an old Focus?

My 86 year old father in-law wants me to have his car because he cannot drive due to eyesight issues. The Ford Focus (2002) 1.6 petrol has been owned from new and has only covered 17,000 miles. Apart from very short journeys the car has been parked in the open and used infrequently. What should I do to bring it back into use? I will obviously check the tyres and fluids, but should all fluids & filters be replaced now or after a couple of trips?
Have the whole thing recommissioned. All fluids: brake fluid, engine oil and filter. PAS fluid, new spark plugs, new timing belt, tensioner and waterpump. Likely to cost the wrong side of £500.
