Is it normal for a MINI to use a litre of oil every 10k miles?

I have been told that it is fairly normal for a MINI Cooper S to use a litre of oil every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. Is this true as my MINI is using around this.
You mean the R56? It's a chain cam engine shared with Peugeot and needs an oil change at least every 10,000 miles (tlc isn't enough). The S is supposed to pump coolant through the turbo when you switch off, but still wise to idle it for a minute of so after you've been ragging it, or after driving up a long hill.
