Should I put oil into my car or wait until the service?
I bought a used Peugeot 308 SW diesel almost 12 months ago. For the first time today I've had the "Check Oil" indicator appear on the display. Should I put in oil myself or wait until the (free) service at the end of the month?
It's not unusual for an engine to use some oil in a year. But the oil light probably signifies a lack of oil pressure because there is not enough oil in the engine. So read the driver's manual. Find out what grade of oil it needs. Then put some in. It will probably need a least a litre. This is urgent or the engine might seize.
