What maintenance should I expect to carry out on my 2003 Jaguar X-Type?
Five years ago I purchased in the UK a 2003 Jaguar X-Type 2.0 litre petrol, one previous lady owner with 43,000 miles and a Jaguar service history. Since then, I moved to Cyprus and brought the car with me, which now has 67,000 miles. Please inform me what major or minor repairs I might expect to be faced with.
Happily it’s not a diesel. This is a smaller 2099cc 160PS version of one of the best engines Ford ever built. It was dropped because it did not sell in big enough numbers and was not worth Ford obtaining EU IV for it, so availability for some parts is not as good as for the 2.5 and 3.0-litre V6. It has a timing chain so there's no timing belt to worry about. The climate in Cyprus is warm, so there won’t be condensation in the brake fluid, but it’s still worth changing it. Obviously change the engine oil, oil filter, engine air filter and cabin pollen filter. Run it on as high-octane petrol as you can get.
