Should I change the timing belt and water pump on my 8-year-old Citroen C4?
I run a Citroen C4 SX HD1 110 diesel that is now eight years old, with 93,000 miles on the clock and still running fine. The car is serviced according to the handbook by the local Citroen dealer. Financial constraints mean that I need to keep this car for another four or five years and I have decided to have the timing belt changed (a little early), including pulleys etc, and the water pump renewed at the same time. Is this wise and should I be considering any other renewals?
Without a doubt this is a smart move. And don't skimp by giving the job to someone cheap who hasn't done it before on this engine at least ten times. If the brake fluid had not been changed for a few years, change that as well.
