Has the new Nissan X-Trail's turbo problem been solved?
I have a 2005 Nissan X-Trail and it has had a new turbo and intercooler. Apart from the turbo issue, the car has been very reliable and I have been pleased with it. I would like to buy the newer version but I'm concerned about the turbo and related problems. Do you know if they have been solved?
You need to make sure that they replaced the turbo oil feed pipe as well as the turbo because these can coke up, restricting the flow to the turbo bearing and reducing the life of the new turbo to as little as 1000 miles. Remember always to idle the engine before switching off after towing, after ascending a steep hill, after driving particularly fast and after cruising on the motorway.
