Why aren't air bags inspected after ten years?

My wife drives a Toyota but it is not affected by the airbag recall. That said, I felt that all airbags need an examination after 10 years. So I think that the manufactures recalling cars for a potential airbag fault should not get bad press because of their actions. I know we live in a blame culture but where will it end?
Good for you. That's a very sensible comment. So much is being built into cars these days that it's ridiculous to expect manufacturers to assume any responsibility at all after 6 years. On the other hand, we have to ask why so much is being built into cars that basically makes them economic write offs after 6 - 7 years. I guess that's the price of saving lives.
