Why isn't air conditioning maintenance included in my Volkswagen service package?
I purchased a Volkswagen Passat CC two years ago. Volkswagen has contacted me to remind me of the second year service, which is now due. They also said that my aircon was due for a service at a special price of £79. When I purchased the car I also included a 3-year service package, so assumed this would be covered also. I would very much appreciate your view on this.
Hardly anything is included in a service package. Brake fluid changes aren't, air conditioning services aren't. Usually, annual oil and filter changes aren't. I find it hard to see what you do actually get. Actually, as long as you use the air conditioning regularly right through the winter, the system self-maintains. Not using it though the winter allows the seals to dry out and that’s why the systems need re-gassing.
