Should I have my Mercedes-Benz C-Class, currently on contract hire, serviced at a main dealer?

I have recently received a new Mercedes-Benz C-Class on a 3-year contract hire. The small print states that I should get the car serviced at an 'Official Workshop'. I know that the warranty is not dependent on using main dealers for servicing, but can the contract hire company insist on this or am I free to use an independent garage for servicing?

Depends on your contract with the contract hire company. If I was them I would insist the car was serviced by Mercedes-Benz franchises because only then would all the necessary TSB work be carried out. Servicing elsewhere will also reduce the residual value of the car.
