Will an oil change void my BMW warranty?

I recently had an oil change carried out on my 2008 diesel BMW 3 Series by a non-franchised garage. I have a BMW warranty that I pay for on a monthly basis, but I have discovered AFTER the oil service that the warranty stipulates that all servicing must be carried out by a BMW dealer or one of their approved service agents using genuine BMW parts. An error on my part admittedly, however in my defence I was of the impression that you could no longer be forced to use franchised dealer facilities provided that parts used were to manufacturers specification. Am I now in a position where I must cancel my BMW warranty and go somewhere else?
If the warranty insurer voids the warranty, nothing you can do. Could be that if you have the oil changed again by a BMW dealer you can re-validate it.
