Does Mazda operate a digital service record for its cars on a database?

I am considering buying a 2007 Mazda 6 2.0 TS Auto. It is an ex-Motability car with one previous owner. It's being sold by the original supplying Mazda dealership. I am told that Mazda servicing data is kept electronically and there is no 'paper' service log. Is this correct, and if so how do I check the service history?
This is indeed the case. Mazda introduced digital service records in 2006 to help combat fraud. The data for every car is held at a central database by Mazda, so the dealer should be able to show you the history. There's more information here:
